Indigenous Religious Believers’ Experience to Manage Stigma in Indonesia

The state acknowledges the existence of indigenous religious believers, yet given social stigma since considered primitive, heresy, and even atheist. to believers negatively results in personal relationships eventually influencing believers’ life aspects. Thus, management communication strategies are essential when interacting with other people their environments. This research depicts how manage living society. It was conducted Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia. 28 groups were listed on Majelis Luhur Kepercayaan Terhadap Tuhan YME (MLKI) Banyumas. study used a phenomenological approach. data collected through in-depth interviews 10 participants from some communities believers. Seventeen years selected using snowball sampling technique. researchers then classified them into categories based predetermined themes. finding showed that limited interactions non-believers. In responding these stigmas, developed different strategies: accepting, denying by providing information, discrediting discreditor, avoiding, reducing offensiveness, ignoring.
